I’m a frazzled mom, I admit. You can ask anyone in my life that has had a birthday in the past few months; his or her gift was late. Super mom-sister-daughter-wife-friend fail. My mom came up with this idea and If I would have listened to my mom, I could have at least shown proper birthday etiquette on the actual day and then gifted their actual gift once I got my act together.
Awesome goodies= gifts. I love buying gifts. I love giving gifts. It’s my thing. I also love any excuse to celebrate or host a party.
So yeah, gifts.
I went to The Queen Bee Market this past weekend and even though I had my trusty iPhone with my trusty list of upcoming birthdays of everyone I could remember everyone in my life, I still bought extras. Why? Cause I’m sure to forget that so-and-so’s birthday is a week from tomorrow and my kids are PMS’ing (er… Pre-Monster-Syndrome?) so I wont can’t go shopping. Or feel free to insert any excuse really. Like these: we were invited short-notice (it happens), I lost track of time, I don’t want to take my three kids out in public today or, I simply forgot. Mommy-brain. It’s no myth.
The box o’ awesome goodies comes in handy.
I will say it doesn’t make up for those specialized, personal touch gifts that I do so love but it at least gets me on the invite list for the next year
Now, I can’t show it all cause then my mom will know what she’s getting for Mother’s day and my bestie will know what is in the mail for her upcoming birthday that’s if I can get my act together and actually mail it on time. Having sweet little things in that basket is a lifesaver; at least it is for me!
PS extra bottles of wine also work really well for last-minute/oops-I-forgot gifts but don’t drink them all with the intentions of replacing them… like I do. I never get around to replacing them.
Oh and look at these Wine Tags to stash with those bottles of vino.
I also found and bought Happy Birthday Cards by Redstar Ink. to have handy. Bonus- it’s recycled paper!
This is NOT to be confused with re-gifting. Don’t do that. Ever. Just donate things you receive and won’t use, please. I only say that because (it’s wrong and) I have a ‘friend’ (no, this didn’t happen to me) who is so guilty of re-gifting and she got caught. She forgot who gave her what and gave the gift back to the giver, as a gift. Fail.

I’ve been called “maternal” since the day I could hold a baby doll. I’ve become a pregnancy, baby and parenting resource since having my first child almost 10 years ago. This is my blog and where I share my journey through parenthood with you.

Oh, I have a friend who re-gifts and who also only gets presents from Marshall's or some such discount place. Which, by the way, I frequent regularly, so I am very familiar with the merchandise.
This woman has the nerve to wrap this stuff up without tags, wrinkled from wear, and/or with the glue from the large price tags still sticking to everything.
I'm always emabarrased when we go celebrate a birthday with her because her gift will most certainly suck.
(Sorry about the unhappy comment — this was just too good of an opportunity to vent!)
I have to say that one of the best things about starting REDSTAR ink, is I always have little gifts and cards on hand.
Love your blog and love your tweets! Thanks for the support.
