DIY Wrapping Paper

Between Birthdays and the Holidays, we use a lot of wrapping paper from September to January each year.
I’m always looking for way to cut costs around the Holidays… I’m also all for keeping my kids entertained and reminding them of the importance of Recycling. Well, at least the 8-year-old gets it.

That is why we like to make our own wrapping paper.

Step 1. Go grocery shopping and request paper bags upon checkout.
Step 2. Stock pile brown paper bags.
Step 3. Remove handles.

Step 4. Cut the sides of each bag so the bags are all flat.

Step 5. Line your driveway with the paper bags; supply your children with paint (red, white, green, gold, etc. for Christmas… blue, white, silver, etc. for Hanukkah); let your children have a field day with the paint.
*use sponges, brushes, beaded necklaces, tissue paper, hands and feet to apply the paint
Step 6. Let dry.
Step 7. Wrap your gifts!

You can even save the handles, paint them, and configure them on top of the present so it resembles a bow!
I’ve found that the recipients enjoy the personal touch just as much as I enjoy the activity for my kids.
