Rainy Day Fun

Rain, rain… go away. Come again, another day. Little (energy filled) children want to play. Rain, rain… go away!

(Oh, if only it were that easy).

Because we cant sing, chant or dance away the rain, we might as well make the best of it with some fun indoor activities.

Just Dance Kids- I’m hooked just about as much as my kids are. I don’t care if we’re groovin’ to Yo Gabba Gabba, as long as my kids are smiling (and getting some energy out), I’m happy!

Busy Box- Roll out the trash bags under the table and let your kids go wild with their inner Monet art skills. If you don’t have a Busy Box, gather some paper, scissors (pre-cut some shapes for the younger kiddos), glue, sequins, glitter (if you dare), pipe cleaners, brown paper lunch bags, googly  eyes and crayons.

Board Games- I love board games. I love them more than video games. So any chance I get to pull one out, I’m all over it. Sequence for Kids is a good one, we also like Memory games, Monopoly, Connect Four, Sorry!, Pictionary and good old Charades.

Outside Games, Inside- We have some Play Carpets just for rainy days. You can just as easily take some painters tape and make squares on your carpet though.

Creative snacks- Remember Ants on a Log? I love, love, love this book Favorite Family Meals by Annabel Karmel. It has a ton of great healthy and fun kid-friendly meals and snacks. Lots of them can be done by parents and children together.

Story Telling- Shut the windows and doors, turn off the lights, grab a flash light and grab a few books!

Forts Ahoy!- Grab some pillows, blankets and chairs and build a fort! Even better, build the fort in the living room, pop some popcorn and put on a movie.
