If you are expecting or have a new baby, stock up on burp cloths! I actually prefer the Flatfold ones instead of the “cloth diaper” looking ones. I have a drawer full of them.
Here are some ways I’ve used (and still use) burp cloths.
1. Baby puke, obviously. The flatfold burp cloths are a little bigger than the other ones and absorb the same amount (from what I’ve found at least). They also dry faster while in the dryer cause there aren’t multiple layers of fabric in the middle.
2. Sick older kids. They make cleanup so much easier. I wont go into detail.
3. Nursing reminders. I used a folded burp cloth under my baby’s head not only to catch liquids (which also helps reduce the amount of times you need to change/wash the nursing pillow cover) but also to remind me which breast I left off on. That’s one thing I could never remember on my own.
4. Car messes. Since they are thin and easy to store or carry, I keep a few in the car for cleaning hands, faces, and messes and to kill bugs.

I’ve been called “maternal” since the day I could hold a baby doll. I’ve become a pregnancy, baby and parenting resource since having my first child almost 10 years ago. This is my blog and where I share my journey through parenthood with you.
