Spa La Costa and The Spa Social

What do you get when you put 200 socially savvy women in robes, hand them a belini, tell them to nosh on sliders and make them run around a 15,000-square-foot courtyard scavenging for Golden Eggs in hopes they win a super cool prize?

Why, The San Diego MOMfia Spa Social at The Spa at La Costa of course.

That’s my bum. and The Little Hen House’s bum, too.

I’m no stranger to The Spa at La Costa. I made it my quest to find the perfect Maternity Massage while pregnant with boy #2 and The Spa at La Costa was the winner. (I’m not just saying that either). It doesn’t really shock me that The Spa at La Costa is known worldwide and lives up to it’s high expectations with awards such as, Readers’ Choice for One of the “World’s Best Spas” (Travel + Leisure 2010) and #1 Spa for Southern California (Spa Magazine 2010).

But I haven’t been since they completed their newest $50 million dollar renovation. Heck, I didn’t even know they had a renovation but I guess that’s what happens when you have two kids back-to-back and no longer have make time for things like Maternity Massages.
It was just like the good ol’ Spa at La Costa… serene, relaxing and amazing, but with some added bonuses. The Spa has a new concept– pulling in elements of nature with their citrus and herb garden, reflexology path and inspiration from locally grown ingredients like the Carlsbad Strawberry.

“The Next La Costa” features a new spa concept, interior redesign, a series of new treatments, expansion of the Spa Café, new Café menu items, creation of social spaces, and the addition of a Reflexology Path and Herb Garden in the Spa Courtyard.

The Spa at La Costa is a picturesque Spanish-colonial style haven from the everyday. The crowning glory of La Costa Resort and Spa in Carlsbad, Calif., the spa offers 28,000 square feet of indoor space and a 15,000-square-foot outdoor courtyard. The spa features 42 treatment rooms, the full-service Yamaguchi Salon, a spa boutique, Spa Café and movement and fitness training studios.

Along with the lasting memories from the evening– new friends, putting faces to (Twitter) names, finding a Golden Egg and winning a Starbucks Gift Card, making my belly super happy with crab cake sliders (and strawberry-mint sorbet and champagne), dancing to live music, and not having to worry about my outfit (cause I donned a spa robe all.night.long)– the best part happened at registration. I checked-in and was asked if I wanted to send my husband an email hinting to him that I would like a Mother’s Day Massage. I snickered when I heard the question, thinking there was no way my husband would remember (let alone check the email in time), but jotted down his email just in case.

Guess what? Guess who got a Massage at The Spa at La Costa for Mother’s Day?

 That’s my massage room.

Check out The Spa at La Costa on Facebook for more information (and possibilities of future events, like the Spa Social)
… and check out their Treatment Menu and treat yourself (if your hubby didn’t get the Mother’s Day email). It’s so worth it.

I'm totally jealous of your Mother's Day massage! I'm pretty sure my husband still has no idea the day exists.
