While your child is in the potty training stage (this goes for newborns and infants too… since they leak and spit and all that) use this very easy, very helpful common tip to help maintain your middle of the night sanity.
Make your child’s bed 2-4 times.
What to get:
- Purchase a few extra sets of fitted sheets (they don’t have to be expensive)
- Purchase 2 fitted waterproof mattress pads
- Purchase 4 (or more) flat waterproof mattress pads
What to do:
- Make your child’s bed as you normally would– fitted mattress pad and sheets
- Lay a flat waterproof pad over the fitted sheet and then add another fitted sheet over it
- Repeat this once or twice more
- Then lay out a few extra pairs of PJs
The purpose:
When your potty training child wakes up at 2am with wet PJs and a wet bed… simply stumble in his/her room, rip off the top layer of bedding, change your child’s PJs and back to sleep you both go!
You want to purchase more mattress pads and fitted sheets (as listed above) if your child is still taking naps. That way you are not a slave to your washer and dryer any more than you already are.
