I just turned 30.
I just got back from a 4-day (no children) vacation with my mom in San Francisco.
I also had an amazing birthday party with the most amazing friends and family and my brothers made me do a few shots…ouch.
So, in the past week, I’ve already learned quite a bit to begin my 30th year of life. Like…
- Traveling without kids is very easy.
- I can pack 4 days worth of clothes in one small suitcase.
- Carrying on your luggage cuts down hours of travel time.
- SFO Airport is a big place.
- San Francisco is also a big place.
- Comfy shoes are a must in San Francisco.
- I’ve never liked big crowds
and I still don’t.
- The shopping in San Francisco is amazing.
- If you want to go shopping in San Francisco, go during the week.
- I really don’t like big crowds.
- There is a Starbucks every 10 steps in the city of San Francisco.
- My mom snores worse than my husband.
- I love my white noise sound machine iPhone App.
- If Stella & Dot is going to have a convention, they should really open up a public market to everyone not attending the conference
but staying at the same hotel.
- I drool over pretty boutique-style jewelry
especially when I can’t buy it on the spot.
- City cab drivers are interesting. and blast 70′s music.
- I get cab-sick.
- I definitely take free parking and free car rides for granted.
- My mom has excellent taste in wine.
- She also has more money than I do.
- I still get carded.
- So does my mom.
- Teatro ZinZanni is as good as everyone said it would be.
- I had to Google Joan Baez.
- My mom was star-struck by Joan and got to dance right next to her.
- I buy pink feather boas after a few Mint Lemon Drops.
- Mint Lemon Drops are really yummy.
- It’s not a good idea to paint your own toenails in an airport.
- Especially with a dark purple-black.
- Especially if you haven’t painted your own nails in years.
- But quick-dry nail polish is pretty cool.
- I have amazing friends both in San Francisco and in San Diego.
- I miss my sister so so so much.
- I love my family.
- I missed my kids so much.
- My kids look and act a year or two older after being gone for 4 days.

I’ve been called “maternal” since the day I could hold a baby doll. I’ve become a pregnancy, baby and parenting resource since having my first child almost 10 years ago. This is my blog and where I share my journey through parenthood with you.

Happy belated 30th! You’ll love your 30′s….it’s been amazing for me. Isn’t SF, great? The food, the drink, the atmosphere….FUN!
Thank you! I say bring it (30) on! I’m so excited!
SF is truly amazing. I’ve just found that as I get older– I now have a fear of heights, I get boat (and car/cab) sick, I don’t like crowds (that’s just from being spoiled in a small beach town for too long LOL). All these weird things
I adore this post, and all that you’ve learned so far. And? I’m with you in that I really do not like big crowds.
Enjoy your 30′s! So far, I’m loving them.
Thank you! 30′s are the new black
LOVE! This killed me:
– My mom snores worse than my husband.
– I love my white noise sound machine iPhone App.
sigh. She also travels with sleeping pills. Which… make it worse. I actually recorded her cause it was comical the second night.
