Mommy Tip- Vinegar and Laundry

There are three, sorry four, boys in this house and my 3-year-old’s feet already stink– if that gives you any indication of what this house can small like on any given day. My husband doesn’t understand why I do as much laundry as I do. According to him, it’s perfectly fine for the boys- and himself- to wear clothing a few days in a row. I say they’d be sleeping outside in a tent if they did that.

I can’t use laundry detergents with dyes, fragrances of harsh soaps (due to a slew of sensitive skin issues from multiple people in this house) so, to keep the stink at bay, I’ve learned a little trick. Actually, I learned this from washing cloth diapers so I figured that if it could work wonders on poopy diapers, it for sure would work on sweat, stank and whatever else boys smell like.

White vinegar to the rescue!

Here are just a few of the many ways that I use vinegar:

1. I keep a jug of white vinegar in the laundry room for the rinse cycle while doing wash– use 1/2 cup to help freshen up whites and get rid of stubborn stains & smells.

2. Prepare a spray bottle with 1/2 vinegar and 1/2 water– use the solution on fresh stains, spray down your washer every few weeks to get rid of soap build-up, and use it to safely (it’s non-toxic/chemical-free) and efficiently remove carpet stains.
