The new BabyBjorn Miracle Carrier is a sure hit for new parents. The Miracle Carrier easily grows and adjusts along with your baby making it an essential item from birth.
Fit for parents
- Transfers easily from parent to parent- no additional straps needed.
- Easy adjustable wider straps for comfort.
- The ergonomic waistbelt can easily be adjusted to vary pressure points.
- Adjusts easily even after baby is in place.
- The new lumbar/back support is a hard piece that slides up and down your back based on where it is most comfortable for you. The new design makes the carrier heavier –when carrying it around — than previous BabyBjorn models but you do not feel the extra weight of the carrier while it’s in use.
Fit for baby
- Extra soft padded design where baby’s legs, arms and head touch with non-chafing seams.
- Fits baby perfectly – from newborn up to 15 months. Developed in collaboration with pediatricians to fit your baby perfectly. No extra insert needed.
- The Miracle carrier is suitable from birth to 15 months and/or 26 pounds.
- New easy to use height guide built-in — adjust the height at the base of the carrier according to your child’s height.
What we thought of the BabyBjorn Miracle Carrier
I tried out the miracle carrier with a 2-week-old baby, a 6-month-old baby and my toddler son who is 22-months-old and 23 pounds. Having used a BabyBjorn Original and BabyBjorn Air carrier with all my children — for the past 9 years — I will say that the Miracle Carrier is pretty perfect… for a younger baby.
Newborn tester
My newborn tester was soothed to sleep the second he was placed in the Miracle Carrier. He already loves being held in the upright position and the carrier cradled his little body so that he wouldn’t startle himself awake. I noticed that the armholes of the carrier (the part that touch his upper arm) have been changed over the years and now it helps babies feel more secure — rather than leaving their arms dangling. I easily, and quickly, adjusted the lumbar support to a comfortable position — even while he was secured in the carrier! He felt as light as a feather and I instantly noticed that he felt higher up on my body than I have been used with previous/other BabyBjorn carriers.
Infant tester
My 6-month-old infant tester was all about facing out — she already has complete head and neck control so we went with it. Actually, I don’t know of any baby that doesn’t enjoy looking out at the world from a higher vantage point so, just as I expected, she was as happy as a clam. Shortly after walking around (while she was kicking her feet with extreme joy) I had to adjust the straps tighter and the lumbar support to a lower position on my back but once I found the perfect spot, we were both happy and ready to continue exploring.
Toddler tester
This is my only qualm about the Miracle carrier. While my son fits the weight and height requirements, he is past the 15-month recommendation. I knew it was safe for him to be in the carrier (because he is well within the weight and height limits) so we gave it a try. Just like the infant tester, he wanted to face out so I obliged. It took me quite a while to get the adjustments just right so that his weight was evenly distributed on my body. We did eventually get it to a comfortable spot and I was able to carry him around for quite a while. I also tried placing him in the facing in position but that made him feel like I was carrying a sack of potatoes and he wasn’t having it.
After wearing it for a few weeks, I was able to get the hang of where I needed the waist belt and lumbar support placement to be and eventually I got the hang of it. I found that, on me, I needed the waist belt to be lower on my hips so that the lumbar support pieces could be as low as possible — supporting and distributing most of the weight on my lower back.
I will say that the seat of the carrier is very nice. Most carriers that are hybrid like this (ones that face in and out) require an additional piece to make the seat wider. There’s something about the way the seat on the Miracle Carrier is designed that allows even my toddler to sit comfortably facing in and out.
Bottom line, I believe the 15-month recommendation is there for a reason — even if your older child fits the weight and height requirements. I do wish the BabyBjorn Miracle carrier accommodated older babies more comfortably so it could last parents through the toddler years. BabyBjorn says that most toddlers — around the age of 15 months — prefer to explore the world by foot and while I tend to agree, there are times that both my son and/or I prefer to use a carrier.
- Ergonomic waist belt and flexible carrying provide superior comfort. The entirely new and unique design with a generously padded adjustable waist belt, comfortable back support and wide shoulder straps allow flexible carrying in a variety of ways. Easy adjustments, made from the front, transfer baby’s weight between your waist, hips and shoulders as needed. The baby carrier is easily adjusted for that perfect fit. - Adjustable back support provides comfortable stability for the lumbar region. Wide shoulder straps for maximal comfort.
- Safe and simple to use with all adjustments made from the front.
- The head support plays a vital role in providing support for the newborn baby’s neck. It is adjustable and can be folded down once the child can hold his or her head up (around four months) and carried facing forwards.
- Carrying your child facing you, in an upright position, permits the free passage of air. Eye contact can be maintained and allows supervision of baby’s breathing.
- Soft and gentle with your baby in mind. The seams on BABYBJÖRN Baby Carrier Miracle have been placed on the outside, so they won’t chafe baby’s arms and legs. The fabric on the inside of the baby carrier was designed to be particularly smooth and gentle on sensitive skin. All of the materials used are tested and guaranteed free from harmful substances, and comply with the requirements of the Oeko-Tex Standard 100, class 1 for baby products.
The BabyBjorn Miracle Carrier comes in three different durable fabrics — soft cotton mix, airy mesh and organic.
BABYBJÖRN Baby Carrier Miracle is now available in selected stores.
Disclosure: BabyBjorn provided me with a Miracle Carrier for this review. I was not paid or asked to write about the Miracle carrier and as always, my opinions are all my own.
