Because of the time it took to prep for ABC Kids (and then the time it took to prep and execute a NBC news segment just days after I returned), I maybe took two or three pictures that didn’t include a stroller, car seat or baby item within the past two weeks. To keep with my new favorite part of Monday (the My Week In Pictures post), here are some of my favorite moments and highlight from my four (five) days at ABC Kids in Louisville, KY… which also includes sneak peek details about some of the new baby/child stuff and gear coming in 2013.
It’s always nice the first day – when you leave, by yourself, on a quiet plane. Only having to worry about which music you want to listen to and which foods you want to eat… and when (even if it’s not the greatest because no one at the airport knows what gluten free means). Even thought I didn’t bring my kids, I still brought my Skip Hop Metallic Versa diaper bag, as it was the best “purse” option I had. And even the kids on the plane were good. It was a good day.
Day two involved sleeping in (even though it wasn’t really sleeping in once you consider the 3-hour time change), lots of coffee and some scarf wearing. It was a great day.
Day three was (baby) gear, gear and more gear. I love the new fashions and colors coming in 2013. Lots of bright colors, “Tiffany” blues and bold patterns and fabrics. Here are the new colors on the Britax B-Agile and the Bumbleride Indie (along with the new stroller board and new features for 2013) and the Bumbleride Flite.
Car seats are going white in 2013. The Clek Foonf was one of the first to showcase this beautiful and simple base color and now Maxi-Cosi is rolling out a white Mico (to match seamlessly with the white Quinny Moodd – swoon) and Peg-Perego is going white on some of their Primo Viaggio convertible car seats!
Day three ended at the private Uppa Baby party. There they revealed their newest product, which will be out around March 2013. The Uppa Baby Mesa is an innovative infant car seat that is silly-simple to install, adjusts the harness height from the front and detaches from the Uppa Baby Cruz and Uppa Baby Vista by the push of a (small) button on the top of the carry handle – genius. More on this beauty later…
Day four included some of my favorite moments. I met with three owners and thoroughly enjoyed spending every second with each of them. In fact, I wish it could have been longer. I met Claire of Bebe Au Lait and we discussed the new (and super stylish) prints for their already beautiful line of nursing covers. Then we talked about our kids. I met Trish at Little Giraffe and relished in her knowledge of design and love for unique, beautiful, practical and silky smooth fabrics. I could have talked to her all day. I also met with Katie from Puj – her smile alone made me that much more excited for what’s to come from a brand I already know and love so much.
My time at Skip Hop was also one of my favorite moments of the day – okay, there were a lot of really great moments! I love what is newly available and what’s coming for 2013. A few of my favorites include a new stroller organizer (with a zip-off storage pocket), a brand new Jonathan Adler Light and Luxe diaper bag and educational and inviting wooden toys perfect for little hands.
The Nook Pebble holds a special place in my heart when it comes to babies and sleep. That and the Nested Bean Zen Swaddle. I got a chance to finally see (and sit in) the highly anticipated Pebble Lounger (age 18 months and up) along with the new mattress, pillows and oh-so-amazing body pillows. Nook has your child’s sleep needs covered from crib to toddler bed and twin and now for a crib conversion to a full bed! Mom and dad can enjoy the pillows.
Nuna was my last stop of the day before heading home – or so I thought. The excitement in the Nuna booth was unmatched. I fell hard for the Leaf, pretty much at first sight. There are no batteries or thing-a-ma-bobs, it simply sways (like a leaf) for a few minutes – all on it’s own. The Zaaz is a high chair that grows with your child from 6 months and beyond. The innovative height adjust and easy remove pieces instantly transform the high chair into a seat. And finally, the Sena is a good-looking and super easy to use playard and sleep space – with a removable bassinet.
