Now that the fun stuff is happening (and the morning sickness has ended – hopefully), I’ll be posting weekly updates about this pregnancy. So far, my theory is holding true – each pregnancy goes by much faster than the last. Seeing as this is my fourth one, I should, theoretically, have a baby in my arms in no time. But this is the first time I’ve been pregnant during the holidays, which has really made the past few months fly by… And has kick started my nesting mode into full gear. Now I’m just waiting for my energy to return, but I fear that might never happen because of the obvious – I already have three boys in the house. Even with the sluggishness, I’m feeling the need to get things in order, organized and ready – already. I keep looking at my planner, thinking about all the events and daily activities over the next few months… And then I have to step away from it all for a second.
We found out a few weeks ago that we’re having a boy and had it confirmed last Friday – my mom wasn’t completely convinced given the position of the baby at the scan and the time the tech allotted for our appointment. We’re 99.9 percent sure now.
My cravings/aversions have been all over the board this time. Typically I find a few things I love (and a few things I hate) and those are my staples for the entire pregnancy. Not this time. My cravings change every few weeks and I have no warning of aversions until I’m in that moment. My cravings right now? Soy lattes, cottage cheese with veggies and carrot-ginger soup.
We started the nursery this week! Stokke sent us a Sleepi crib in Grey – the same crib I’ve been drooling over for the past three or four years. (Unfortunately, the grey Sleepi is now no longer available). I’ve based the entire theme of the room around the Sleepi crib. Except, there’s really no definitive theme, it’s more of a rich color theme with a mix of modern, traditional and eclectic accents. And that sweet little layette outfit in the picture? That’s what I picked out from Tea Collection as his coming home outfit.
We also painted this past week. Once again, we used the Benjamin Moore Natura paint (the same paint we used for our master bedroom and for the three and five year old’s shared bedroom – which is almost complete) and finally settled on the perfect color: Stormy Monday (also grey). Our 5-year-old got in on the painting action, but he decided that painting was boring so he ended up painting a train mural instead. So far, I’m thrilled with what we have put together, I’ve spent far too much time creating vision boards on PicMonkey and I’m really looking forward to seeing it all come together.
My husband has been great, rolling with the “honey do” list during our time off together (so when I say we painted… I really mean he did most of the painting), and we’ve spent the past few weeks balancing the house stuff and having fun with the kids. Speaking of the kids, they keep asking: Is it June yet? They don’t know it, but they feed my anxiety a little more every time they ask that.
More Exciting things coming up for this pregnancy:
- I’m going to start light exercise again. Walking and yoga at home has been great, but I want something a little more this time.
- I’ve been feeling more and more little bubbles and think the kicks are right around the corner.
- I’ve created a baby registry, but more to keep track of the things we need to get. I’m such a visual person – I love wish lists because of this – and it was a lot of fun to pick out the things I want and need to get for this baby. Now I need to prioritize it.

Hi Robin!
Congrats on your pregnancy and I look forward to “seeing” you around!
I’m glad you found me, too! And thanks for taking the time to leave a note
You have been blessed with healthy cravings. Happy that you are feeling well and nesting all over again…congratulations.
Thank you, Tanya! The healthy cravings are very welcomed this time… I’ve had my fair share of unhealthy pregnancy cravings
Hope you are doing well!
ahhh! I am sooo happy I came across your blog…I am pregnant with my firsts, a.k.a twins, and the same weeks as you (due in June 2013)! So it is great to follow someone who is on the same path (although my belly will probably be bigger) but love reading tips, food ideas and more especially from a very experienced mom! Thanks for sharing!
Vick
